Wickett & Craig Oak Skirting Leather.

Wickett & Craig’s Oak Skirting Leather is a premier choice for leathercrafters who demand uncompromising quality, consistency, and performance. Tanned in Pennsylvania using traditional vegetable tanning methods, this leather is renowned for its strength, density, and clean, natural finish—making it ideal for tooling, stamping, molding, forming, and dyeing. Whether you're crafting saddlery, holsters, belts, sheaths, or fine leather goods, this skirting leather provides the firm body and dependable structure professionals rely on.

Available in a range of popular weights—5–6 oz., 7–8 oz., 9–10 oz., and 11–12 oz.—Oak Skirting Leather is designed to suit a variety of applications, from lighter weight molded goods to heavy-duty strap and saddle work. Each side is struck through with the tannery’s proprietary oak bark blend, giving it a tight fiber structure, exceptional durability, and the ability to take on rich color when oiled, dyed, or antiqued.

The leather comes undyed and unfinished, allowing you full creative control over coloration and finishing techniques. It carves crisply, stamps deeply, and burnishes beautifully, making it a favorite among leatherworkers for both functional and decorative pieces.

Wickett & Craig Leather Grades:

Wickett & Craig leather is available in several grades to suit different leatherworking needs and budgets.

  • Standard Grade offers the cleanest overall appearance, with minimal natural marks and imperfections, making it an excellent choice for premium leather goods where appearance is important.
  • Utility Grade may contain more natural characteristics such as scars, wrinkles, brands, or other cosmetic imperfections, but still provides the same quality vegetable-tanned leather and is a great value for projects where maximum usable yield is less critical.
  • Special Grade typically features more noticeable natural markings or surface imperfections and is ideal for smaller projects, practice work, prototypes, or leatherworkers looking for quality Wickett & Craig leather at a more economical price. Because leather is a natural material, markings and usable area will vary from hide to hide.
